Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)/ Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF)

In general, Platelet Rich Plasma Treatments (PRP) or PRF use growth factors from patient’s own blood to help rejuvenate the skin or to help stimulate grow hair.

The Procedure:

A patients blood is drawn and placed in a special centrifuge machine to spin the blood down and separate out the platelet rich plasma where the growth factors are. After a topical numbing agent is applied, this growth factor rich blood is then injected via cannula or a needle into the patients face, neck, decollate, or hands where these growth factors upon injection activate stem cells which stimulate collagen production in the skin and improves blood flow to the skin.

None. May have some bruising and soreness.

Want to grow your own hair back in those thinning spots? PRP is used alone or in conjunction with other modalities to promote hair growth in balding/thinning scalps. This non-surgical procedure that promotes natural hair growth is done with a topical and local scalp block to minimize the discomfort. Most women can get good correction with just a couple of treatments; men will typically need 3-4 treatments initially then followed by 1-2 treatments a year to maintain.
